Note: Orders may be delayed due to Federal holidays.

  • Riviera Seafood Club's Gindara Sablefish (Black Cod), scientifically named Anoplopoma fimbria, is sustainably farmed in the pristine waters of Kyuguout Sound, British Columbia. Prepared as a filet, our Black Cod will offer your taste buds a buttery and rich umami flavor, complemented by an elegant velvety texture. Known simply as Gindara in Japanese, this tasty fish delivers its coveted flavor profile due to its high fat content. Riviera's Black Cod is a green-rated species by the Monterey Bay Aquarium that can be served both raw or cooked.

All orders of Gindara Sablefish are individually packaged and shipped using overnight express delivery. Riviera's Gindara will arrive wrapped in food-grade absorbent paper within an individualized loin bag. If you desire to use Gindara for sashimi, it must be stored in the refrigerator immediately upon arrival. For raw consumption, eat within one to two days. Any time past this window, the portion will be searing, poke, or cooking grade. (Keep in mind that freezing sashimi grade fish does slowly diminish the quality of the meat as the cell membrane is not well maintained in conventional home freezers). For best results, eat properly stored frozen portions within one to two months of arrival.

Black Cod

I had my doubts shipping anything fresh in the heat of a South Carolina summer. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the package and found the fish in perfect condition. Of course the taste was also perfect.

Only negative is that it is almost always sold out

Pretty Darn Amazing

This might be a bit of a read, but there are some things I want to share with anyone looking to buy from RSC. First you might be wondering about the pricing. I had seen ads on FB and watched some videos on YT and was a little worried about getting seafood mailed from a seemingly random company. I decided to give them a try and have made two purchases, one for a friend and one for myself, so that should already be an indicator that it was worth a repeat buy. As they say, "you get what you pay for" and in this instance you get quality in spades. One of the freshest tasting fish I've had and you can make an amazing meal in the comfort of your own home. Second, was the customer service. I had put in a special request and RSC let me know they could accommodate this without issue. Unfortunately when I received my order the request was not met, but RSC went above and beyond to rectify this. They were true to their word and I have to comment on this honorable way of handling their mistake, because not all companies would do so. All in all, RSC has earned not only my business but also my trust. I hope these words might help you in deciding to support this business and treating your taste buds at the same time!

Torched GINDARA SABLEFISH (black cod)

Inspired to get this cut after having seared black cod from our local omakase spot. Knowing the quality of RSC seafood, I know I would not be disappointed. Filet arrived quickly with fast delivery. Prepared the cuts for nigiri for dinner that night. Family was excited. Quick sear with our kitchen torch, a light sprinkle of finishing salt, and boom - delicious seared Gindara nigiri. So delicate and creamy, with light smokey flavor. Family can’t wait to have it again.
