Oven Cooked Salmon recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill (optional)
  • Lemon slices for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. This helps the seasoning stick better and ensures the salmon cooks evenly.
  3. Drizzle the olive oil over the salmon fillets, then season them with salt, pepper, and minced garlic. Rub the seasoning mixture gently into the fish to evenly distribute the flavors.
  4. Place the seasoned salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet, skin-side down if they have skin. Make sure to leave some space between the fillets for even cooking.
  5. Squeeze the lemon juice over the salmon fillets, making sure to distribute it evenly. If desired, sprinkle the chopped fresh dill on top for extra flavor.
  6. Place the baking sheet with the salmon in the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through. The exact cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of your fillets, so keep an eye on them to avoid overcooking.
  7. To check if the salmon is done, gently insert a fork into the thickest part of the fillet and twist slightly. The fish should flake easily and have an opaque color.
  8. Once cooked, remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute and keeps the fish moist.
  9. Serve the oven-baked salmon hot with lemon slices for garnish. It pairs well with a side of roasted vegetables, rice, or a fresh salad.
