Ingredients:

  • Sea salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Sesame seeds
  • 7 ounces fresh Bluefin Tuna fillet
  • 2 ounces baby arugula
  • 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1 avocado, thinly sliced
  • Matsuhisa-inspired Dressing:
    • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
    • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
    • 1 teaspoon honey
    • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
    • 1 garlic clove, minced
    • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
    • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Steps:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, grated ginger, minced garlic, extra virgin olive oil, and sesame oil to make the dressing.
  2. Season the Bluefin Tuna fillet with sea salt, freshly ground black pepper and roll in sesame seeds until coated.
  3. Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the Bluefin Tuna for about 1-2 minutes per side, until lightly seared on the outside but still rare in the center. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes.
  4. Arrange the baby arugula, thinly sliced cucumber, and avocado slices on a serving platter.
  5. Thinly slice the grilled Bluefin Tuna and arrange it on top of the salad.
  6. Drizzle the Matsuhisa-inspired dressing over the salad and serve immediately.

  • Experiment with different leafy greens such as spinach or watercress for a unique twist.
  • For a spicy kick, add a few drops of sriracha or chili oil to the dressing.
  • Substitute the Bluefin Tuna with other fresh sashimi-grade fish such as Hamachi or Salmon for variety.
